Hello all. Just purchased my first Toyota ever. 2018 4Runner trd off road. Not so new to the outdoors. Excited to learn about my new truck and its capabilities. I’ve only owned 4wd Silverado’s so I’m ready to start my exploring with the 4Runner. As far as upgrades, I’ve always ran king coilovers in my chevys and plan on doing the same to the 4Runner along with 35” wheels? Not sure if the 4Runner can handle those tires, which is why I’m here to get info from you all. Thanks.

I figured I’d have to do some body trimming but kind of a bummer I would
Have to re gear. Thanks for you input

I mean you don't have too regear if you don't mind getting 10mpg and filling up on go juice more often

Welcome from Wisconsin! You will have to some mods to run 35's, the re-gear is probably the most important. IMO I forgot to mention; we had a long line of Silverado trucks too.. You'll have more fun with the 4Runner.

Modifications are expected as were with my chevy’s. Super excited to join the club. Heading up to Haigler canyon in AZ today to see if we can get stuck somewhere!

Just trying to learn my friend. With my 6.0 Chevy’s I never had yo re gear so you can imagine how it’s a bummer. Definitely adding gears to the list.

    Welcome to the forum.

I haven't seen any 4Runners with 35" wheels. I have seen few 35" tires though.. Just kidding just kidding...!!:santa2::santa2:

I think 35s on 4Runner is little extreme. I think I've seen like 3in suspension lift + 1in body lift + body mount chop needed for 35s.

Mostly I see people run 285/70R17 tires. I see few 295/70R17s. I'm thinking of 285/75R17.

Almost forgot, few grandpa's run 255/80R17s.. ok.. ok.. ok.. I'm kidding.. It's Friday...!!!:drunk:

88 rotors out of California builds 4R with 35’s and Kings and IMO they look great. Is it overkill? Yeah probably!

My fav build on YouTube. I don't remember if he's on this forum. Now he's running 37s.

That’s so awesome. in your opinion what are go to uca’s for the 5th gen 4R?
For my chevys I would run dirt king with king coilovers.

I'm not that good on that line sir.

I just have common / regular SPC adjustable UCA with 285/70R17s. I'm no where near as those big builds. My one only has a common / minor lift -

    I get ya
not a question of power 4.0 can handle it
It's more of a trans and rmp thing

Post #12 shows sven (he's a cool dude) on 37's with 456 gears front body mount relocated and wide body fenders
That's said if all you're considering doing is lift and 35's 456 will work perfectly
I mention 488's for safe option incase you choose to go bumpers/rack/sliders/gear (weight in general)

I’m thinking I will definitely need gears considering I’m pulling a turtleback trailer for our gear.
