Hi All- New to the Forum and 4Runners, hope they're as fun and dependable as everybody says they are.

Welcome. I can vouch for their reliability. My 1999 that I bought new is still running, has close to 300k miles. I barely took care of it, did all the maintenance late because I was young and a poor college student then.

Welcome. Dependability brought me here about a year ago. In late 2021 I bought a brand new shiny Ford Bronco after waiting forever. That thing was in the shop for 2 months for the first year of ownership, then the fuel pump shit itself with less than 10k on the clock in a remote Oregon desert.

I've had zero downtime in the 4Runner so far other than oil changes and tire rotation.

 

Fun…. oh yeah! Dependable….without a doubt! Every time I pass a Bronco I tell my wife, “he secretly wants a 4Runner”, then we both laugh! Welcome to the forum, Steve!

 

When I first joined this forum I always thought these requests for photos from new members were so strange. I mean here we are on a vehicle specific forum - a forum that caters to only one iteration of a certain vehicle. We all have a 5th gen 4Runner. They all look the same. We know what they look like. So why ask for pictures?

Only after a while did I understand. The request for photos is a gift to the new member. An invitation to show off his new vehicle with pride. Those photo requests show amazing esprit de corps. Automatic acceptance into the community. You have a 4Runner? Welcome brother or sister! It’s cool.
