    Hello everyone.
It is nice being part of this forum and learning from others experiences.
I just got my first 4Runner today. I have waited a while for this moment. Im excited.
It is a 2019 Sr5 4X4 Midnight Black Metallic, used, with 54K miles in it.
I have heard that rust is a problem with 4runners so the first thing I want to do is apply some Fluid film or Surface Shield underneath it, so i can prevent further rust buildup.
I hope that little by little I’m going to build it for some off road adventures. Hopefully Sr5 is somewhat capable for different terrains.

Thanks. As you would know market is a bit overpriced now. I got this for 32K, it has 3rd row seat installed.

I think that's about going price. We got our '19 SR5 Premium (3rd row) for $42K with 17K miles. Now has 34K miles and seems to be worth about $40K, so I think you're in the ballpark! You should get another 200K miles out of it with maintenance.

    Welcome and good luck!

BTW: The SR5 is MORE than capable. Just doesn't have all the "soccer mom" extras (=really just more to go wrong!). We live in the PNW snow country. Last spring, we went down south along the eastern Sierras and Cascades and then to Flag. to visit kin. Snow and blizzard from Bend. OR to Bishop, CA. Four-wheel drive for 2 days! Followed by thunderstorms. No Issues at all! Heated seats were nice (more for my lower back than my butt!). Plenty of power on I-40. Stable in winds.

For basic off-roading, I would recommend maybe a roof basket, a brush guard, and rails or steps of some kind. Good floor mats for the MUD you will be tracking in. Basic retrieval gear (mats, maybe a Hi-Lift, shovel, ax, snatch strap, etc), GPS if it doesn't have Navigation (Don't laugh- I did until we got lost trying to find my brother's house and ended up in a bad part of San Bernadino County); for long trips, we REALLY like satellite radio. We keep minimal survival "stuff" and a decent first-aid kit inside. Extinguisher! Oh, BTW: I also keeps copies of DeLorme Atlases around and take what I need for where we are going (Especially for areas like the Navaho Rez) where GPS might be sketchy. Got lost somewhere in NorCal/So OR following GPS on FS roads near Klamath. Discretion (a VALUABLE tool!) got the better of us and a low gas tank prompted us to turn back! Once spent two days stuck in my old FJ40 because I got over confidant.

Edit: Don't forget a couple of GI wool blankets, especially if you have dogs!

I wanted a 2019 because it was the last year with a CD player and it has no TSS(toyota safety sense.) I couldnt find one.
Bought a 2020 brand new during covid because they were practically giving them away and begging for business. I got $3k off MSRP
(Meanwhile joe biden was hiding in his basement cuz Anthony Fauci told him he could die from the scary China virus).
That black beauty sure looks nice and $32K is the average price these days. I got offered $29K for mine this year on a trade in value.
I plan on keeping it for few more years. It will hold it's value for a decade or more.

Welcome! As stated previously, your 4WD is more than capable.

The second half of January I was in Boise for a couple of weeks. Kept getting snowed on the whole time we were there. The end of January, started driving home to the Bay Area. Just before leaving Idaho, the roads were covered with snow all the way to almost Winnemucca, Nevada, which is about where I took it out of 4WD. Then just east of Reno, hit another snowstorm up and over the Sierras. Was in 4WD the entire time until almost Sacramento. The 4WD in these trucks is very capable. You have made a good purchase.
