I significantly reduced the likelihood of getting stuck today by getting a set of Goodyear UltraTerrains on my otherwise stock ORP. Heading to the woods this pm to get them dirty. They are 265/70/17 SL. I requested road force balance and they are smooth up to 75 mph (fast as I drove) and very quiet.

That a boy. They look great and I love that you’re taking them to get dirty. I always scratch my head when people buy off road tires and never get them dirty. Post back on how they perform

Just got done in woods. Love these tires. Was on a couple steep hills that required ATRAC or MTS.

Nice. I've heard nothing but good things about the Ultra Terrains. I may give them a go next time I need tires.

Nice tire! Tread pattern is similar to my Goodyer duratracs but not as aggressive, which will help with noise. May be my next choice if they are good in the rain and snow too.

I have had DuraTracs before and they never let me down. I am giving these a try. So far, so good. Smooth and quiet. No steering wheel shimmy up to 80mph. Drove a little faster on way home from woods for a stretch just to test them out. Discount tire has a Goodyear $110 instant rebate thru 7-5. They gave me $200 for my Duelers. The factory tire was good on Highway but first trip to my farm after rain and about got stuck.

That’s awesome. Did you air down? If so what psi? They look sharp on your 4R

No I didn’t air down. Running 35 psi. It’s fairly dry at this point. Not much wet conditions. I have some hills to climb steeper than the picture that include opposite corner high points (undulations). If you go slow (not a running start) you will get to a point where opposite corner tires have very little weight on them. With Open Differentials, which is the default in 4 Lo, you will spin the tires. Engaging MTS or ATRAC will quickly remedy the situation (mid hill) by applying ABS to the spinning wheels, and you climb right up the hill. Of course Crawl Control makes quick work of these hills also. I was testing the various MTS settings to get a feel of permitted wheel-spin. Of course rear diff-lock in 4 Lo also makes quick work of these hills. Honestly, diff-lock and Crawl Control almost feels like cheating. I was driving logging roads at my timber farm (80 acres). When deer hunting in the Fall, especially after rain, I need good tires and a 4 Runner or Tacoma. I have had a Tacoma and it was great (TRDOR). This 4 Runner is more capable IMO. Extra weight in the back. Coil Spring linked rear suspension. But I gotta have good tires or I’ll be walking out at dark and calling my son to come pick me up until I can get my 4 WD tractor to pull me out. The factory OE tires are not off-road capable like these UltraTerrains or DuraTracs. But I can understand why Toyota supplies them. Many people don’t need off-road capable tires but still like the 4 Runner.

Amen. You have to always have good tires. Have you always gone with Goodyear? I put Toyo Open Country AT3s (285) on mine. Just curious if you’ve had those Goodyear tires previously. They sure do look sharp

I fall into this category and can't justify spending the money or losing the MPG as much as I want to put some of these on mine.

I have had Goodyear DuraTracs and they were awesome. Just read some good reviews on this UltraTerrain and thought I would give them a try. This is the first time with UltraTerrains

If not mistaken these weigh 44 lbs each. They are the standard load (SL). The factory tires are 39 lbs I believe. Driving to my farm today my mpg looked to be about 1 to 1.5 mpg less. I was driving about 70 mph on average. So yes the mpg drops some. But I can’t use my 4 Runner for the reason I bought it without good off-road tires. There are much heavier versions like E load rated but I don’t need that. If I was doing serious rock trails I would need that but I just need good tread for wet and dry logging roads and a rare snow event in upper South Carolina.
