Per your request, you have waived your Connected Services and therefore your vehicle is not transmitting location, driving, and vehicle health data to Toyota. Without the collection of your vehicles data, you acknowledge we are unable to provide Connected Services. The following services will not function in your vehicle (if applicable) : Safety Connect (includes automatic collision notification, enhanced roadside assistance, emergency and stolen vehicle assistance), Remote Connect, Service Connect, Destination Assist, Dynamic Navigation and Wi-Fi Connect.

If you would like to re-enroll your vehicle’s Connected Services or have additional questions, please contact the Toyota Brand Engagement Center at 1-800-331-4331.

    Sincerely,
    Connected Services by Toyota

I don't see any new requirements in there. They're telling you what changed when you asked for disconnect and they're telling you how you reconnect later if you can change your mind.

That letter read like the usual notification to me.

It’s pretty reasonable that disabling the cellular connection disables features that depend on it.

You don't have to call to re-enable, you can do it through the shitty app. I randomly turn it on and off to make my data garbage/incomplete. Typically I just enable when I am not parking in my house's garage. As I only see two benefits for it software updates and theft (I may replace that functionality with an airtag).

I used to be able to not share any data and was able to use the remote connect. Now to even use the remote connect in the app, it wants all your vehicle data :[

What time frame was that? Data sharing was in the TOS for the '23 model year. I don't know about previous years, but it's definitely not a sudden change.

To me, this means that enough people noticed privacy abuses and started opting out for Toyota to become concerned about this revenue stream. So they assigned marketing to try to drum up the interest. Expect to see more spam and FUD to get people to activate connected services in the future.
