New Rear Bumper ?

So, I am about to order a new rear bumper from carparts.com for my sons 2002 4runner. It’s only $233 and is the chrome plated bumper.
Has anyone have any experience with this cheap bumper? Hoping to get a few years out of it in the northeast salt belt.
OEM from Toyota is about triple the cost.

 

Let us know how you make out with the bumper. I planned on replacing the front and rear on my 1999. But will probably go with black.

 

I got a cheapo front chrome one through ebay. Literally the cheapest I could find. Still not a sign of rust after 5+ years. But I'm in NC.

Any should at least go 2 years up there.

Yeah. Very easy. I just had to measure and drill holes for my fender flares

 

That makes me feel better! We can just fluid film the inside & stay on top of it. This 4Runner has provided some good little projects so far for my son & I.

I'd spray down the back of it with some sort of rust preventative like CRC or fluid film. That's what will rot it out, all the crap that gets stuck inside of it.

 

Put Por15 on the back of the bumper. You'll never see it, and it will last longer than fluid film

 

Just got the bumper installed. Looks good!
If it looks that good after a couple of Pennsylvania winters, I’ll be happy!
