    Hello All,

My wife and I just purchased a 2023 4Runner TRD Off Road and LOVE it. Accept for the lack of power. Which I am sure all of you are aware of. LOL!!

We are moving to Chicago IL and looking for suggestions to have it tuned there. I found a company out of El Paso, TX who does yotawerx tuning. Any thoughts on doing that or is there a place in Chicago who are able to do something similar? We would like to add a bit more power without voiding the warranty and not installing a Magnuson SC right now. Look forward to hearing any suggestions and thank you for welcoming us to the group.

    C&J

I was just being a smart ass. A little forum history. There is a contingent here that love the various Pedal Commander type devices and I’m definitely one of them. Then there are those that think they’re a waste of money since you can just stomp the pedal yourself. Also true. Then there is a group who definitely think a tune is the way to go. It’s always an interesting exchange and seems that none of us are swayed by the others. This a great forum but get ready to spend bunches of money on stuff.

We already spent a bunch of money......LOL! So I guess a few more dollars won't matter. I wanted to put a SC in but my wife vetoed it because we don't want to take a chance that we bought a lemon and void the warranty. Which I completely agree with her. But damn a SC would have been nice.......

    Welcome.

I've read good things about the tunes. Have also known people who've had different cars tuned with good results.

Had a supercharger on my '99. Dealer installed it (was the TRD supercharger back then). Enjoyed the heck out of that thing for all 100,000 miles I had it.

Wouldn't do it now only because of how $$$$ they've gotten.

I wouldn't flash it or tune it. These things are slow. You'll get it slightly less so and for what? You're introducing risk that a tunnel might lean out the map somewhere and perhaps create excess engine wear or something. And then you gotta sell the thing maybe eventually. Leave it as stock on the tune. If you really want maybe look at a super charger eventually.

Welcome. Keep it stock and get a great set of all terrain tires for winter. As a snow expert ( Buffalo ) I would suggest BFG KO2. I went with LT265/70R17 C BW 112S, tire number is 10892. They are quite on the street, triple mountain rated snow tire, and look really good on the truck. That , and a remote start too !
