    Hello!

Very thankful this forum! I have a 1999 4Runner SR5 (not 4WD). It has about 270,000 miles and still runs strong. The last 2 days, when I put it in park, the rpms go to just over 2,000. When driving it's fine, it does not lurch when it's put in drive. No cables are stuck, and nothing was lodged under the accelerator (like a floor mat). I've heard it could be the throttle cable, but I'm not too sure. Any thoughts? Thanks so much!!!

    Welcome to the forum Kim.

It’s hard to diagnose without seeing the car, but check the idle control valve. The throttle cable couldve been adjusted to compensate for a bad IAC valve

Welcome. Agree for IAC. Hard to say for sure but where I'd start.
