    2024 Solar Octane TRD ORP
Hello all! I recently put down a deposit for a 2024 Solar Octane TRD off-road Premium. It is still in transit so I don’t have it in my possession yet. Technically it’s for my wife as she wanted to get out of her “soccer mom” Honda Pilot. However, I’ll be slapping on all the mods. I’ve been given free rein on whatever I want to put on. I’m starting with new wheels and tires. Other than the Solar Octane color, everything else will be blacked out.

Any advice for a new, new 4Runner owner?

Since I’m coming into the party at the last stage of this generation 4Runner, should I perhaps hold out for the 2025 model?

    Welcome.

Solar Octane is an amazing color.

Advice - start looking for a second income, as this forum will happily spend your money on mods. In all seriousness, do the cosmetic black out mods first, then drive it for a few weeks/months. Once you have some seat time, you’ll know what your using the rig for and the modifications that you’ll want/need.

I’m with #steelevo on his advice, yes do the blackout & wheels/tires, then drive it for a few months before spending gobs of money on it. You will be surprised at how capable the 4Runner is in stock trim off-road. Unless you’re going to do some serious off-roading, which accounts for around 5% of us, leaving it stock will increase its longevity, along with its resale value if you ever decide to sell it, god forbid. As far as waiting for the new 6th generation 4Runner, all I can say is it never crossed my mind to wait, I specifically wanted the 1GR-FE engine and A750 transmission with their proven track record as being ultra reliable. Go get that Solar Octane TRD ORP and don’t look back! Welcome aboard!

Thanks for the warm greetings. I feel like I’m part of club now. Always liked these trucks, just was never in a position to get one. But I can now proudly say that I’m the new owner of a 2024 Solar Octane TRD, the last year. Picked her up today! Could these possibly be sought out classics in the years to come?

Welcome from a former New Mex resident. First order of business for me would be a screen protector for the head unit. Just like you would put on a smart phone. Day one at delivery. Other than that I would would just enjoy the ownership experience and get used to your new ride. It may be with you much longer than you anticipate.

I'd also suggest a black dash mat from Dashcovers on Menaul. The guys there have been making these in house for decades. They shipped two to myself this Winter for use on the two 23's we have.

Yup! They were an “alright” dealership. I hate going through the buying process, but I made it simple for them by not haggling too much. I’ll get the shields. Thanks for the tip.

Can’t wait to show my new 4Runner to my “Nothing beats Chevy” father-in-law. He swears Chevy is the best, to the point that my poor mother-in-law can’t even look at another brand. It’s so weird.

Don’t get me wrong, I bought a brand new Silverado back in ‘08 and in 8yrs of ownership only the interior started to fall apart. Mechanically, it never gave me any trouble.

We have a 2022 stock 4Runner. We live in Southwestern, NM about 18 miles out of Silver City. We have put 48,000 miles on our 4Runner and love it. We don’t 4 wheel, just do a lot of driving to explore. Already made a couple of trips from NM to Pennsylvania and several trips from NM to California. If you get down towards Silver City, let me know and we will show you around the area.
