    I am new here and all in to find a 4 runner for myself and my two kids... i am looking for a 4th Gen V8's or 5th Gen ideally. I'm in Maryland but willing to travel for the right 4 runner...

    Welcome!

    I vote for the 5th Gen V6 over the 4th Gen V8.

    My reason is 5th Gen V6 is more mature /improved and have no timing belt trouble. Also V6 has more practical fuel range. Even the GX460 V8 got rid of the timing belt and have timing chain like the V6.

    If you can stretch your budget for a newer 5th gen after 2020 they keep on adding features also. The newest feature available for 2023 is heated steering wheel option along with LED head lights, newer headunit with apple car play, android auto, Toyota safety sense with automatic braking, lane departure warning, radar cruise control, etc.. And many other available features like 360 camera, blind spot monitoring, etc..
