Hello, I bought a 170k mile 1992 rust-bucket 4runner a few months back that im trying to restore to functional-not getting laughed at-status, to do some light wheeling and general purpose 2nd vehicle beatery things. it had a headgasket blow at about 15 miles ago prior to me buying it, (thats why the guy sold it), got it for about $800.(ive driven it MAAAYBE 10 miles) it has a bit of rust in places that scare me, but im replacing the doors and bad rusted sections, i cheapo'd fixed the head with some block sealer, and haven't had issues with that yet since the "fix" if you could call it that. I plan to swap the 3.4 in EVENTUALLY, but im broke as F.

hope to learn alot here and thanks for being here. also gonna attach some photos if i can figure that out..

Welcome to the forum, how does the frame look as far as rust is concerned?

well the frame seems solid, i haven't really gotten under it but from what i could see, the only things rusting are 3 doors (the driver door isnt actually rusting though yet) the 2 front fenders and the right side rocker panel. unsure of the rocker, but I have 3 "new" doors i need to paint, swap parts over and place on the truck, and i have 2 new fenders now on the truck i just painted one to "match" but its tiger stripey... the other is still white... the rims were on the heavier side of rusted to almost cancerous levels of rust, so i replaced them with 5 FJ Cruiser rims and some old 265/65r17 Michelin tires i had at my house that i used for a month on my 2016 Colorado... the interior is amazingly in good condition minus the driver seat(its torn up) the carpet looks almost new, everything works just missing a roof light cover and the 2 door panel mirror covers. oh yeah the antenna was broken off at some point but the radio still works...
