Hello from Vermont. I’m on my 2nd 4Runner. The first was a 2003 V8 Limited. I use mine as a daily driver and as my farm truck. I take it camping too. As a farm inspector, I’ve taken my rig off road, through streams and it routinely gets me through 10-12 inches of mud.

The worst conditions that it got me through was a gps designated turn onto an unplowed road with about 20 inches of snow. I was sweating it but several short turns forward and back got me out on my own power. I drove my first one until it had 251,000 miles on it. My current 2006 has 225000. Such a great vehicle. I’m hoping to get some advice on selling my 2006 and finding a slightly newer 4Runner.

You will get more opinions than you asked for here so let me start with mine. I would recommend purchasing a 4Runner before 2020 as that was the year they added all the electronic do dads safety sense features. I say this as I had a different vehicle with all those features and spent nearly 5 grand fixing things out of warranty that had nothing to do with how the vehicle runs. Granted it wasn’t a Toyota but a Nissan. I specifically looked for something prior to 2020 per my personal experience.

I tend to doll up my vehicles before listing them for sale. Wash & wax, gunk engine bay, steam clean interior carpet & upholstery (I rent the small steam cleaner from Home Depot, $30.00 @ day), clean interior windows and oil change. Craigslist, FB Marketplace and local paper all work well, just remember to write your phone number on Craigslist as a combo of numbers and words; 7six4-2two8one to prevent bots from calling you. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome. @DesertSurfer has great input for you. Selling your 4Runner privately will net more money. If you don't want to do all of the cleaning yourself, just find a reputable detailer and pay them to spruce it up.

2018 Limited::Yes, I was thinking around 2013 or 2014. I don’t like the screens and all the electronic stuff. It’s been cleaned and waxed. I just don’t know what the market might be for a vehicle of this vintage and mileage.
