New Colorado Member

Hey, I married a 91" hilux owner and we drove the little red truck until we move to Kenya. There we got a 91 Land Cruiser Prado right hand drive and drove all over. Now we're back in Colorado and thinking of getting a 4 Runner. Looking for to all the insights and humor this group has to offer.

I guess you might have notice there is a 4Runner every 5 seconds around here. 2014+ 5th gen 4Runner is a great choice imo. I personally love 2014-2019 the years before Toyota got Toyota safety sense where I have faced couple of glitches and in conveniences like braking automatically if I drive little (not sure the right word but not really aggressively). I have always bought new and sold the factory tires, replaced with A/T tires that have 3 peak mountain snow flake rating, so I can safely drive on trails and also safe to drive in winter conditions.

If you want the most reliable, try to skip 4Runners with KDSS or XREAS. Still its no big deal. When XREAS leak you can replace with any regular shocks and When KDSS leaks I know Toyota dealerships like Groove Toyota on Englewood have good knowledge fixing KDSS.

Coming from Asia I really miss 70 series and Hilux. Back in the day (90s) Hilux I drove had a column shifter which sometimes I miss shifts, LoL. Amazing high school time for me. Those were amazing vehicles especially been diesels, though they require little more maintenance. But maintenance was cheap and diesel were cheap. Love to see a pic of the Hilux and Prado (78?).

First picture is the Prado (on the left) in the Chelbi desert, northern Kenya.
Prado came with 4 cylinder turbo diesel.
The second is a Mitsubishi Pajero.
Second picture is the Toyota Hilux. Stopped by Grand Teton on the way to Alaska.
