New 4Runner owners

Thought I’d introduce myself. I’m Martin Ley, from the Houston TX area. My wife just purchased a 2018 Limited 4Runner. It’s pretty nice. We’ve always wanted a 4Runner.

We are a Toyota family. I drive a 2019 Tundra. My son drives a 2009 4Runner, and my daughter drives a 2018 Rav4.

My wife is pretty excited about her new to her 4Runner. It’s the nicest vehicle she’s ever owned. We both are in our late 50’s, and at the stage in life where we want to enjoy life a bit. I’m excited for her, and I’m trying to learn as much as possible about her truck, so I can help with maintenance or any possible issues.

So thanks for any advice or pointers.

Congratulations and welcome to you and your wife. We are out by Lake Conroe and I totally agree about enjoying life. This is a great forum and you’ll find lots of great tips for both inexpensive, and costly improvements and mods. Enjoy the ride.

Welcome from the Fort Worth area. I have family in the Houston area (Kingwood) and in other parts. I've always liked the look of the Limited trim, even with all the chrome. I know most people think chrome is evil on our trucks, but I think in some cases.....it works well!

My Tundra is a Limited Crewmax 4x4, with lots of chrome. I like chrome a lot. I know a lot of guys don't, and they want everything paint matched, but I like the chrome. I'm really not sure why folks hate on chrome so much.

Agreed. While my MGM OR does not have chrome per se, I have not gone the route of blacking every silver accent out, i.e. badges, grille emblem, valances, etc., as seems to be very popular. I think the amount of silver color of those is just the right amount of contrast against the massive amount of MGM. I am in a small minority, it seems.

It's got a few miles over 75500. So, average mileage for the year model. We were happy with it's condition and how clean it was. I'm not sure, but I suspect at some point it may have been repo'd because the key fob is an aftermarket key fob, not the oem Toyota one. Everything works great though. First thing on the agenda is to call my keyfob making friend to help me out with a second fob.

 

Recent model Limiteds have push button start, correct?

 

I think 2020 and up got push to start and better headunits with carplay. 2021 and up got LED head and tail lights

 

This 2018 has push button start, and I think it's head unit may be aftermarket as it is an Alpine, and has Apple Car Play.

Welcome to the forum! My wife has the exact same vehicle--2018 Toyota 4Runner Limited (in Blizzard Pearl!). I also have a 2019 4Runner SR5P in MGM. We're also in our mid/late 50s and will soon live in San Antonio when I retire from the Air Force next Summer. BTW, we bought my wife's 4Runner new in Sept '18 and it's been perfect--absolutely NO mechanical or other issues.
