Hi - I am new to this forum. I have a 2004 Toyota V8 Limited with 135K original miles - but a recently fixed rusted frame. My 4Runner is now my second vehicle and I use it more sparingly. I have never replaced the shocks. The rear shocks, which I was told are "air suspension" are expensive to replace. I do not work on the truck myself and would have the replacement done professionally. I would appreciate your recommendations for the type/brand of shocks to have installed. I plan on keeping the truck for a "few" more years. Love my 4Runner - it's our second - first was an 88 which we had to trade in when we had kids, given it had only two doors.

Well it really depends on use. For around town use and virtually no off road, just about any replacement will do.
Are you thinking of adding any lift?

No mods and no more off-roading planned. Some in-town and highway driving and perhaps pulling a small trailer. Just trying to determine if I should replace with Toyota OEM shocks or potentially a less expensive alternative and any impacts. If this group has taken one approach or the other. Thanks/

OEM's are fine if the price is right. Otherwise aftermarket is good for your application. Most all come with comparable warrantees.
