    Hi everyone!

My 2008 4Runner hasn't been aging gracefully (~100,500 miles), and today it didn't pass the NC state inspection due to a small leak from the power steering rack. My local auto shop also found the two CV axle boots torn. The repairs are not cheap (price detail attached) and I want to get some opinions here to see if everything looks reasonable.

    Quick summary -
    Steering rack: $1180 OEM / $500 remanufactured, $375 labor, $100 alignment.
    Axle: ($165 par + $156 labor)/each

Also, could the remanufactured part be a reliable option as to the OEM?

    Thanks for the help!

Are you referring to Toyota reman? If so, I believe they come with a one (1) year warranty. Do you typically off road? Or mainly street driven? If the latter, I don’t see an issue with OEM reman but I would wait to see if anyone has purchased a reman steering rack before taking the plunge. Good luck!

I asked the dealer and he say it's an aftermarket reman with 2 year warranty. And I don't really go off-road, just street and highway. With the parts being aftermarket reman it seems a bit concerning to me.
