Need advice on tire sizing for new wheels

    Hey y’all! So I just order some aftermarket wheels with a -12 offset and I’m about to be running a 2in(front) 1in(rear) leveling kit and I wanted to ask if I could run 285/70/17 pretty easily with minor rubbing.

    I have 2.5 inches and I am running 285/75/17

    There is some rubbing but honestly I love the look and the little extra capability off-road. I personally think a 285/70/17 would be a great fit with that lift as I hear a lot of people running it. You might need some extra caster but honestly idk.

    RSG sliders, Yakima offgrid basket, Pro-Comp wheels, SOS Streamline bumper and skids, Warn VR EVO10S winch + Ultimate Sidewinder, Bilstein 6112 + 5100 + rear lift coils, Rigid Dually SS ditch lights w/Caliraised brackets and OEM style dash switch
    After your lift is installed, have a good alignment shop max out your caster as much as possible while keeping camber and toe in spec. This will be your best chance at minimal rubbing. Even at stock height, some have been able to run 285's with proper alignment.

    Even with that, due to the -12 offset, you might to modify or remove the mudflaps, and inner fender liners. These are easy to do. There are write-ups about the fender liner mod around here somewhere.

    285's look perfect on a 4runner with a mild lift. I'm at 2.4/1.5" and 295/70/17's are good. They're really pushing the limit on stock gearing, though. I had 285/70/17's before and rarely noticed the difference from stock size in normal driving.

    So what's a consensus on going 2 - 2.5 front and 1-in rear and whether or not I will need uca? This will be a daily driver so I want to make sure nothing gets half-assed as far as alignment

    Well…. It really depends on what your need is… I don’t like reverse rakes when towing something. I want my front-end planted on the ground. But if you see yourself never towing anything moderately heavy or putting anything in the bak of the 4runner that has a little weight to it then that should bring you to about level.

    Yeah sorry that kind of reads Goofy I meant a 2 inch lift in the front and a 1 inch lift in the rear. That should still leave me with some amount of rake so that if the back has weight in it then it sits level. But I'm more curious whether I can get a proper alignment without ucas with 2-2 and 1/2 in the front

    It seems like somewhere between 2.5 - 3" is where the factory UCA's run out of adjustment. I've never heard anyone needing them at less than about 3". I would just do the lift and get the alignment done and see where they end up. It's likely that it will be just fine.
