Mouse droppings on engine cover

So I'm checking the oil level on my '19 TRD Off Road this evening (I do it every time I gas up. Used to own a Subaru) and I noticed rodent droppings on the engine cover.

I checked under the engine cover, inside the air cleaner assembly, behind the door for the cabin filter, and anywhere else I could think of. No signs of any nesting or wire chewing.

So my question is; what are some products or strategies I can use to prevent this from happening again?

The truck is daily driven, but it is not garaged. So far I have taped a couple of dryer sheets under the hood and I'm leaving a bag of used cat litter on the ground under the motor.

Fresh Cab is a great product. It's a little bag of ?? And it's infused with fir oil. Smells like Christmas trees and is a rodent repellant. Great stuff.

The fresh cab just feels like a little bag of pine scented saw dust or cat litter. The scent is waaaaay better than dryer sheets.

I heard moth balls work. I use Fluid Film under the 4 and I guess it stink to them cuz I have never had an issue. I also park full time outside.

 

I have had rodent chewing in my area for a very long time 365day rodent poison outside around my yard and I have a small stone house with the rat trap inside it with a s/steel wire to keep the raccoons from taking the killed rodent/trap that they eat..

I put under the hood irish spring soap .. I cut the soap bar with a razor knife.. soap cuts look like postage stamp..
so far this is working dryer scent sheets did not work they actually used that to fluff up the nest .....

the problem we all have is rodents are exploding in population , reason is stupid people have bird feeders and the rodents are surging ..now these feeders are creating bear problems ..

I would now check you cabin air filter !!!!!!! toyota designed this cabin air intake that rodents just love the entry..
have to open up the plastic cover and wipers and seal up those fender rodent access holes..

on the engine they will chew up the injector wires on the intake manifold.
