I’m thinking of getting a set of those Morimoto tail light units for my 2022 TR4 SR5 Premium 4WD. I saw a recently posted YouTube video made by “Untamed” where he recently installed a set on his 2024 T4R.

Is anyone here dis-pleased with their purchase of these things? I’ve read some horror stories whereby electrical system gremlins could pop up in your vehicle after installing after-market electrical items on vehicles.

Do these Morimoto tail lights require installation of anything other than the light housings themselves, such as relays, circuit breakers, etc.???

My SR5 is white. Does anyone have a white one with these installed on it? How do they look on a white T4R? Thanks!

IMG_4802.jpg Love mine on my 23 Pro. Simple install. Just plug in. Just hold onto your oem incase you have to throw them back in for any issues. They work just like oem no electrical issues. I have the smoked set. Yes very bright.

They’re great. Very bright. Go with the smoked lenses.

Thanks for the replies so far everyone. I forgot to ask in my original posting above- What is the warranty period that Morimoto offers on these tail lights? Time-wise and / or mileage-wise?

Do they offer paperwork in with the merchandise that you have to fill out and send back in to activate / validate the warranty?

5 years. No paperwork at least for the headlights.
If these had separate turn signals and brake lights I would get them

Thanks LA260. But I’m not sure I understand your comment about them (not) having separate turn signals and brake lights? Could you please elaborate or word it differently? Thank you sir.

I have them in Red. I love 'em because they match the red paint perfectly. They were a simple plug-n-play install. It took a total of 10 minutes to remove the old ones and install the new ones. I did not need anything additional at all (resistor, adapters, fuse).

@Borracho Loco those look great on your rig!

The shin breaker sticking out of your receiver made me wince!

I've only had ONE mishap since I've owned it, by me. I walked into one morning when I was still half away and attempting to walk past the truck with the garage door down. I cussed so much that I had to go to EXTRA church that week.

Oddly enough, people NEVER want to tail gate me, even in rush hour traffic. Strange, no? :)

I keep a ball and hitch in the receiver on my Tacoma. My shins have found that thing and made painful contact enough times now that my pea brain automatically steers me away from the close proximity of the back end of the truck!

Speaking of tailgating - I did get rear ended in the Tacoma somewhat softly at a traffic light one time. I was stopped. I got out and looked, the truck was fine. The car behind me? Not so much.

To me, this looks good only in red on a red 4Runner.

I think these look fine but I like the oem ones are better. I don’t see this as an upgrade at all. If money is no object, go for it if it suites your preferences. It would be a low priority item on my list of “upgrades”, if at all. Putting the money into a rainy day account for maintenance or repairs is like 1000x better. IMHO.

I have the smoked edition on my MGM 4R.

    20240922_185058.jpg

Super happy with the purchase. I bought the XB gen 2 headlights, tail lights and mirror markers on sale a few months ago. (I believe July 4th).

I'm really happy with it and believe it looks better than stock.

    Sincerely,

    Sean
