The only spot I dont mind blistering intensity of light. Too bad I missed them!

 

I don't tend to order anything from vendors who only make a few of something they know everyone wants, sell out right away, and ask you to sign up for notifications. I could see if it was every few months or so, but not 15 minutes' worth of stock on hand.

This has been their usual business model.

Thanks for the heads up! I had to snag a set. I have the arclight's which work good, but the button sticking out gets hit often when I have things in the back so I am going to try these out instead.

 

Kind of surprised I managed to order successfully just now! Hopefully this will do the trick to get enough light back there.

 

After watching the video, I went ahead and ordered a set. Got a confirmation number, so hoping that means they're in stock, and will ship and give me a status update. They look fairly simple to install, just use plastic pry tools to pop the OEM one out, pop off the lens cover, unscrew the slider switch, replace with the black one, install the MESO unit over the body and snap it into place, and done. Remount with the wire harness, and all's good...

I ordered a set, as they were still in stock. I'm looking forward to see what the difference is between these and the LED replacement bulbs I put in the hatch lights...hopefully, a big difference.

I'm expecting a considerable increase in brightness, if anything, because the MESO units have more LED chips in them. I also did the LED bulb swap for the hatch lights, but these MESO units should be a LOT brighter than a single LED bulb.

 

i ordered a pair as well. i swapped my og hatch lights for red ones which arent that bright, so this will be great if both settings are brighter, i know the white led obviously will be.

 

Ordered as well. Now I just need to wait for their other replacement lights to get back in stock to complete the set.

Can someone tell me the value of red lighting?

 

It supposedly causes your pupils to constrict less than similar intensity of white light, so it reduces the short-term impairment of night vision after the light is removed.

 

Fewer bugs.

 

We frequently leave the rear dome light on red during night driving so the kids can see and it doesn’t affect the driver (me).

From my very minimal understanding, there is a protein that helps you see at night but takes 30+ minutes to saturate the eye enough to help. Something about it deteriorates quickly (like seconds) in bright white light and red light does not make it deteriorate if the red light is of low enough intensity. This is why airplanes cockpits and submarines use red lights. Having used the map and dome lights for a couple years now, it is much easier to maintain good night vision with the reds on than the whites.

 

It makes you money in Amsterdam! Gotta pay for the 4runner and mods somehow!

 

From my experience, in the dark, looking at something in red light then looking up at something else, put's less of a strain on the eye, and your night vision is minimally affected. So in the 4R world, let's say you pull into a dark driveway, open the door, the red map lights and dome light comes on, then you hear something and look in the dark, your eyes will adjust more quickly than if your interior lights were OEM or an LED. I'm leaving my interior LED lights and Meso rear hatch lights as white, I've spent enough time looking at things in red light!

 

Just installed the hatch lights. I have the Meso map, dome, and now hatch lights. All great quality, but these hatch lights are really solid.

 

Mine arrived in the mail today. I plan to install them asap. Good to know you're happy with them. Did you replace stock lights or LED aftermarket?

 

Replaced LED aftermarket, but have yet to test them in the dark.

 

I got mine yesterday and put them in right away. Looks nice and the light level is much improved, but not obnoxiously bright. Seems to be just about right if you ask me. The red is a little dimmer as expected, but will be more than sufficient for dark camping nights.

I noticed that my red/white mode button is a bit finicky and likes to stick. It’s probably fine, but I have to putz with it to make sure it returns. They both kinda do it but one more than another. Do either of you notice that with yours?
