Lee Vining. I was underdressed for the weather.

Some people had a bad bear day.

Awesome photos! This was an epic trip it looks like. It's been years since I went to Virginia Lakes, I need to stop by there again the next time I'm passing through. Where was the bear break-in? A gal I follow on youtube had her SUV broken into by a bear in the Sierra recently as well. Makes me think they are getting more bold. I know bears have been breaking into vehicles for far longer than I've been alive, but I haven't been hearing about it happening nearly as much as I have this summer.

Oh, the main lodge in Yosemite valley? I never drive into the valley, so at least I'm safe from that bear. :D

Laurel Lakes trail is a pretty good ride if you got a half a day to spend in 4-low. My Wife and I did it in our TJ some years back.
Tire pressure was at 6psi, with good traction on those sharp rocks. The view was incredible at that elevation.

I don't want to hijack, but have any of you guys been up Coyote Flats/ Coyote Creek out of Bishop? That's been on my list for a while now, but I've never done it.

Spectacular. What type of fish is this one in your pics? Is that a golden trout? If so, aren’t they very rare? Or has the Dept. of Natural Resources been able to get their numbers up?

This is just a really pretty brook. (I’m pretty sure) On this trail the variation in color is drastic from the deeper lakes to the shallow ones. The orange.. this one.. on the deep lakes is awesome. In the shallow areas they tend to be more natural and camouflaged. This was Cooney lake. Above Virginia lakes but below Frog lakes.

Wonderful pics and write up (looks like a wild trout). It's been years since I've been out that way. Brings back many memories. Thank you.

I love the Eastern Sierra, but since Interwest took over Mammoth and built the "Village" things have gotten too crowded and overpriced for my tastes.
One of my favorite runs is the Volcanic Tableland north from Bishop and ending up in Mammoth for a few nights, then various day trips into the surrounding areas. The farthest we ventured in a day was a run following parts of the old stage route to Pizona, NV.

That’s funny. I’m staying at the village now. A new condo tower is going in right next to it.
This is at laurel lakes right now. Only one jeep here. Passed another 4Runner at the bottom about to head up.

40 minutes from road to lake.

Thanks for the intel.. I was really tempted to go up there last week, but having not been there before, and seeing nobody on that road for days, and solo, I wasn't going to gamble on road conditions w/o a buddy.
