After briefly considering buying / leasing a new Volvo XC90, I came to my senses
with the help of a number of posts on here with past Volvo owners.

I started looking at the low mile '22 and '23 GX460s and have found quite a few
    for sale / Certified.

I have a 2022 Limited which I bought new and I only have 6,500 miles on it.
It is black over redwood leather and loaded and like brand new.

I have had two Lexus dealers come back at $41k on trade. This is ridiculously low.

I understand a dealer lowballs on initial offers and I expect that. However, that is "rough"
    book low.

They have a ton of overhead and need to make money, however, this figure seems low.

    Anyone else experienced similar?

    Oooh look, another mod.....

I know that prices may vary based on the region you're in. I put in the stats you provided to Kelly Blue Book for my region, and got these number (I said your truck was in excellent condition):

Take it to CarMax or a local Toyota dealership. I bet they'd offer you more.

The bubble seems to have burst for the used car market so I think you're a bit late to the game to cash out on it now that inventory is much better and used cars are plentiful as well.

Can't bitch about trade in $ being low and in the same breath say you understand dealerships need to make money.

Interesting, just y'day colleague from my previous work place asked about the same question as he says there's a lot of pre-owned GX460 available in dealerships.

(Sorry, I have to hide lot of stuff we discussed, just sharing one or 2 lines)

If you want more $$$, sell it private party. But you’re gonna have to do the leg work…

I’m seeing pickups I was looking at last year for 25k, now for 12-15k. I unfortunately needed a daily driver at the height of used vehicle bubble and paid a top dollar no negotiation price for my 18 Limited with 30,800 on the clock but I agree used pricing has softened a little for now.

I completely agree with all. Prices across the board on pre-owned have dropped. However, they have dropped for dealers selling pre-owned as well.

Lexus in the past typically takes a nice big depreciation hit the first year or two and then stabilizes.

If the dealer is asking $3k less than a new one in 2022 cost, that's fine. Then I want roughly the same depreciation level on mine on a trade. It's tit for tat.

Mine can't be worthless while their used vehicles are above high retail.

Again, I know they need to make money and I'm glad they do. I wouldn't want their overhead. However, there is a happy medium in there.

Additionally, there is a new GX coming soon. Yes, it won't have a V8. However, it looks like it will be sharp. And a vast number of people are not
dead set on naturally aspirated engines....just as long as it is a Toyota or Lexus.

If you want to maximize the dollars you get for it, why not sell it yourself? A vehicle as nice as yours sounds will sell fast. I’ve sold my last 3 cars on Autotrader and was pleased at how fast they sold.

Seems they want you inside the bursting bubble, while they stay on the outside and try to make $$$$ on both sides.

The bubble is bursting, not a good time to be on either side.

    KBB says $43k trade in

    $46.5K Private Party

$41k looks like a good negotiation starting point to me no where near ridiculously low.

I have a cousin that is a finance manager at a dealership. He told me a year ago, do not get into the used car game...........it won't end well!
You buy high and then the bubble burst and your car isn't worth what you paid. You're really upsidedown!

What don't you like about the Limited that the GX will satisfy?

I would take the GX just for the V8, if it wasn't for the front grill.

However, I intentionally didn't buy a Lexus, since I live in an area where criminals target, uh, certain demographics and my wife fits the demographic.
