Hey! So happy to be apart of the 4runner community. I am looking to set up my 2021 TRD to be able to car camp in but that little bump between the seats and cargo is quite inconvenient. Wondering if anyone has any cheap solutions for it. Also wondering about putting in screens on the windows for camping and curious if anyone has any tips for that. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum from Wisconsin!

Some folks build a short platform to raise the rear cargo area to the level of the seats. Some have built full length platforms. I have a raised platform with storage underneath. It works pretty well, but you lose head room.

I tried some screens I found on Amazon, but they leaked when it rained. I'm still looking for a better solution.

Welcome from NM! The bump you speak of is very easy to remove, 2 or 3 bolts if I recall. I just removed mine (and the seats) to build a sleeping platform/frame.

This shows seats taken out. Frees up a lot of volume and gets rid of some weight.

I went a different direction with the platform and used Schedule 40 PVC - inexpensive, light (but strong), easy to work with and cheap!

Welcome from Wisconsin!.... Again. When I drove semi over the road there were screens that would fit in the windows, don't recall who made them. The part I do remember is like Thatbassguy said, is they would leak in a down pour. I'm sure if someone can think of a innovation, someone has thought to build it, especially for a 4Runner.
