Looking for New 33" Tires

Looking to replace these Milestar Patagonia M/T 285/70/R17

Hoping to find 4 reliable tires for ~$1k before install that will last longer than these did. I liked em at first but after ~10-15k miles they started cupping real bad and got unbearably loud. Partly due to poor maintenance on my end, but I'm hesitant to buy them again anyways.

I like the M/T look, but live in Austin now and don't hit the trails as much anymore. So could go for an A/T or something lighter, but I don't want to downgrade the look too much if I'm paying the same price or more than I would with these Patagonias. They tend to be towards the cheaper end on the market.

I'm really looking for a set that finds a balance between being cost effective, has decent enough performance and look, isn't super loud, and won't wear like crazy (I do plan on maintaining this next set much better).

I've read that the Milestar's could check all of those boxes with proper maintenance, but am looking for a second opinion on that as well as other recommendations at a similar price point.

Or is it worth spending the extra few $$$ for Falken Wildpeak/Nitto/BFG K02, etc.?

 

tires like the nitto ridge grappler or toyo RT Trail slot in between AT and MT. may fit your need for an aggressive look but milder than an MT.

 

Most name brand 2857017 are over $1000 now. Watch out for sales. All depends on what you looking for and what you need.

Maxxis razr all terrains are around $800 now on ebay. And they are a great tire.

 

Just a small thing, I have very bad experience with ebay having to contact ebay customer service then paypal when there is a fraud. They kept on ball passing. After I got my refund I end up closing both ebay and paypal accounts.

 

You just have to make sure your dealing with a good company(seller).

The maxxis razrs that I'm talking about are sold by simple tire. You can buy them from simpletire.com but they also sell on ebay.

 

I went with a set of Kenda klever R/T. I’ve have them for over 3 years and 30K miles and I still like the way they handle. Not much out there for under $1,000 these days but good luck!

 

I have the Cooper ST MAXX in a 285/75/16 on my third gen and they have been awesome tires.

 

Keep in mind that “good tires aren’t cheap and cheap tires aren’t good”

 

Let m get an A-man on that, the mileage thing is highly debatable, you’re supposed to get rid of then after 6 years.

 

Absolutely worth it! I recently read someone say "good tires are your first line of traction control". It's so true

 

i love my Falkens. 285/70/17 ATs P rated and $987 last year at my local Mavis Tires.

 

It's definitely worth spending money on good tires.

If I were looking for an aggressive looking AT right now, I'd be checking out the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT. There are a few other popular options that seem to get consistently good reviews, as well.

I know a guy who swears by these tires. And, he wheels the shit out of his Taco. I'd definitely consider these a good option.

 

Welcome from Arizona! If your current tires are still roadworthy and not out of alignment take some time find what you want on sale if possible.

 

Milestar makes a AT I had them on my Jeep and they look fairly close to the MT's
