I live in Colorado. I own a silver 2017 4Runner TRD Off Road edition that I bought new. I'm a senior living in a senior living community. Mid 40s mileage. Haven't driven back country as much as I hoped to. Frankly the character of backroads suitable for 4 wheeling has changed a lot in Colorado due to all the specialized off-road vehicles and motorcycles chewing up the 4WD roads into tight twisting bumpy mogul like trials courses. Yea, I'm just a grumpy old guy, Ha!

I plan to post a question in the forums titled "2017 4Runner auto locks doors when sitting in car after turning off ignition. Why?"

I also realized I could just call the dealer.

Welcome from Wisconsin! Not sure about the door locks on your '17, I do know if they are like most, they can be programmed several ways. Good luck. Also try the 'search' in the upper right corner.

    Welcome to the forum.
I think after shutting down, the vehicle may default and auto lock after a certain amount of time. I feel like I have read that somewhere before, but I thought that was only after opening/closing a door. Will need to do more research/ manual reading.
