Level or Sag?

Hi everyone, i recently installed the wescott designs pre load collar kit (3" front 1.5" rear) on my 5th gen 2023 4runner sr5 premium. When i measure, everything is level (+=.1 inches) 38.2ish inches from ground to top of fender all around, but why does it look like the back is sitting lower than the front or is that just me? Maybe i am just used to my car having a rake not being leveled? Curious to know what you guys think. Thanks!

 

First off, it does look like your 4Runner is squatting to pee. Your ass is sagging in the back. Fix that.
Second off, learn to rotate your phone before taking a picture. That way we don't look at a picture that is 2/3rd's black blocks.

Is that really 3” of preload? How does it ride? 3” would chew up most of the down travel so it may not handle bumps very well.

Once you get it sorted, make sure to ADJUST YOUR HEADLIGHTS!

 

The frame and body lines of the 4Runner make it very squatty if the distance from ground to top of the fenders matches front/rear.

 

Thank you all for ur inputs. I stripped the wescott kit off and got bilstein 6112 front at 2” and 5100 in the rear at 1.5. They drive 10x better than the wescott kit which drove way worse than stock. My mpg also improved bc i was not nose up lol

 

Yeah I was gunna say, your not actually level, there’s a natural rake - the fenders are at different heights so even when your level the gap from tire to fender in the rear is larger. If you towed, you’d be nose to the sky

As mentioned earlier, the fenders in the rear go up higher than the fenders in the front. Measuring the front and rear of the running boards or the frame behind the running boards will help on determine if the truck is level or raking one way or the other. All the photos on westcott's website are rear-raked too

I think your setup as it is now looks great, I wouldn't change it.

 

Just put a 6" torpedo or a 3' level in the center of the steps.

Because it is squatting
First you need to put a level on your running boards or rocker panel
Then put a level on your window trim and rear window
You will notice the window trim is slightly raked upward in relation to the rocker and running boards.
When you lift the vehicle, you need about 7/8" higher in the rear to "look" level on the rocker and running boards. By having this extra height gap in the rear fender, you would "think" it has some rake, but this is what is required to keep it level.
Also when its "level" meaning the rocker and running board is level, the bottom window trim will have an upward rake towards the rear.

If you want the VEHICLE to be level, you need about +7/8" higher in the rear than the front
If you want the lower window trim to be level, the rear will be squatted slightly which will give a downward rake to the running board and rocker panels.

Is your front adjustable or just a puck spacer? I would venture to say you need to get a slightly thinner spacer to try to drop the front end about 3/4".
