Picked up a set of springs and shocks from a newer-year SR5. One front spring has 7 coils while the other has 8. According to the 8-coil spring goes on the passenger side. However, that seems counter-intuitive as the 8-coil spring has .675" wire diameter while the 7-coil spring has .642" wire diameter. The 8-coil spring would be about 7% stiffer by calculation. Can anyone confirm which one goes on the passenger side?

Are there part numbers stamped on them? There might be a diagram somewhere that can confirm. Otherwise, stop at a dealership and count the coils on a stock one. :D.

I'm sure someone around here knows.

I'm surprised there's that sort of a difference!!

The stronger/taller coil would go onto the driver's side of a non-kdss vehicle usually. That's how it works in aftermarket parts anyway.
