kwikLYNX - TOYOTA SWAY BAR DISCONNECT

For my stock '21 TRD OR I'm considering this: the kwikLYNX - TOYOTA SWAY BAR DISCONNECT. Obviously I don't have KDSS on mine and I definitely need to be in touch with the ground when crawling on more than 2 wheels, see attached pic... Anyway, has anyone considered or done this?

It would be nice to avoid this kind of action (but in the front):

 

I considered it until I watched a couple of install videos. I’m pretty comfortable with a wrench, but it’s an intense install, with drilling involved. If you do it, keep us updated.

 

I considered this but I have spindle gussets… so I’m out.

I’ve since just removed the front sway bar entirely. Much better flex and still nice and stable on the road.

More like a combined 4' of long-reach suspension travel! lol

 

Agreed, but I think he'd have lifted quite a bit less. You can see how that front sway bar is not allowing the front suspension to articulate at all.



To avoid wheel lift entirely here I'd go with front sway bar delete and long travel rear shocks.

Without going full long travel front ($Too much coin for me.$) the rear long travel shocks/ springs make a huge difference in these rigs capabilities. Dobinson's offers them at a great price point. I was very surprised what some extra droop allows for.

Wouldn't the sway bar disconnect give the same capabilities of no sway bar? I currently do not have my sway bar on, and at times I really think it would improve my on road stability, like coming down mountain twisty roads.

 

Yes. Either way works but one is free and the other is $800

I didn’t until I drove through the Smokey mountains this summer.

 

Fair enough. I think the market needed this sway bar disconnect so I'm glad it exists.

Removing the sway bar is free flex but it does come with downsides. There is more roll but it's manageable with the right suspension. My 4Runner isn't a racecar so driving up mountain roads I just take it slow and enjoy the scenery.

Up is fine, it’s coming down where it makes the difference, even trying to be slow. But, I do like the runner as it’s easier to drive slow.

 

For sure. They are just big cruisers man.

Up and down that highway was fine. Just take it slow and enjoy your tank of an SUV.
