My wife is driving a 2016 4Runner SR5. We bought the vehicle last month from the dealership and were given 1 key. No FOB just the key. The drivers door has the lock but that’s it. As basic as I know.

Are there any options to get keyless entry for this vehicle? 2016 isn’t that long ago so no keyless entry seems odd. Aftermarket options are welcome

That T4R has 2 keys and 2 FOBs, go back to the dealership that sold you the vehicle and get the FOBs. There are 2 for that vehicle.

I don't think SR5's have the fob...maybe for the Limiteds only for similar year(s)? I have a 2015 SR5 PREM and no fob. Do you have lock/unlock buttons on your key?

My 2010 SR5 had 3 keys in total two with buttons and one without buttons for valet parking I think. I think 2016 should have that too from factory.

2016 4Runner SR5 should have 2 of these black keys

and 1 of this grey key

When buying used I would not accept if it does not have both black keys with lock unlock buttons.

As far as I know you cannot program from the valet key (gray key). It will cost you same price as lost both main keys scenario.

If you have atleast 1 main key (black key with lock unlock) the dealer can program from that key.

So if the car only has valet key (grey key with no lock unlock buttons) ask to include the cost to final price and do not accept the car until it is completed imo.

Yup - they cheated you. Don't let them get away with not giving you at least two keys with the lock/unlock/panic buttons, all programmed to work with your 4R.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think the vehicle security/alarm will arm if it doesn't see a fob!

I think you're right. I just tried locking the doors using the switch on the driver's door, and the red light on the dash that blinks after you lock it with the fob didn't blink, it stayed on...I then hit the lock button on the fob, and the light blinked on and off again. I haven't checked in the manual, but I assume the blinking light means the security alarm is armed...
