Trying to get a new key fob programmed. It seems that my 05 has a problem maybe with the ECU. The vehicle won’t allow the new key fob to program to the vehicle. Anyone run into this before?? Will I need to have the dealership fix this? Locksmith couldn’t help me. Thanks in advance.

Is it the style with that has a stand alone remote for keyless entry? If so, highly unlikely that you have a bad ecu. Do you have the original remote? If so, if it is still working properly, ecu is good. You could have gotten a defective remote, that is not actually for your truck. To start, head down to your auto parts store, they normally have a keyless entry remote tested, this will allow you to know if your key is capable of sending a signal to the vehicle. if that is good, you either have the wrong key, or are not completing the programming procedure correctly.
