Well, my 2014 SR5 got banged up in January via hit and run.. we got it fixed and its still been good.. but I decided to move on!

Found a nice 2019 Limited with 4K miles and loaded with nice options for $41500. Hope I did okay but I think so! First time buying the same car model, a second time :)

Man NICE ride. I guess the digital recording cameras front/back are a wise investment?

We actually located the car that hit it a few blocks down. The guy bailed.. Turns out to be a rental from Hertz and of course the renters claim they have no knowledge of the incident and didnt approve the unknown driver of taking the rental...

The other car, which was totaled.

    Welcome from Wisconsin!

    Wow! That's sketchy as hell!

^^^^This! It's their car! Did you call the police?

Yep.. unfortunately they cant do anything. They just file a report for the insurance company. Hertz didnt want to take responsibility and said the renters have insurance on file. The renter's insurance (AAA) didnt want to take responsibility because they said the renters claim to not know who the drivers are. So my insurance and a $500 deductible had to fix the damages. Then my insurance filed charges on hertz and they were willing to pay $5000, which was the state requirement. The process took 8 months, So I recovered part of the deductible back.

The interesting thing, my neighbors recorded the same white car doing drifts and burning rubber the previous day and called the police with video evidence (which in turn was posted on our neighborhood's fb page)... So it looks like whoever it was, rented some cars to have some fun around town (fast and furious style).
The police's response was that they cant do anything because it was an unsanctioned video recording and they have to catch in the act.

Well, that's truly unfortunate. Maybe it was a Hertz employee. It's just another situation where decent people get screwed over by irresponsible ones.

The new ride looks great! At least you made the best of the situation.
