Just sold the QS Taco and got a QS 4R question on mirror swap

Hello new to this site, came over from Tacoma World. I went from a 17' Quicksand Tacoma Limited to a 16' Quicksand 4R TRD Pro. Man I miss my smart key push to start. Biggest surprise was that the 4R does not have blind spot monitoring and signals in the mirrors. Has anyone swapped out mirrors and added signals? I know they are powered and heated and I know adding blind spot is not an option just surprised that it does not have the signals??

 

Look up Old Red on Instagram, he makes a great kit to add the turn signals among some other things. But yeah BSM cannot be added.

 

BSM became standard on all 4Runner trims beginning in 2023. It's on the Limited trim level in earlier years. Our 2022 Limited has it. Our 2021 Venture doesn't. But, to me, it's silly BSM wasn't added when the rest of the TSS hardware (lane deviation, collision mitigation, etc.) was added across the whole 4R line in 2020.

You can use a harness like this for the turns and puddle lamp retrofit but I believe you need to source the parts yourself;

I believe all 4Runner premiums/pro/limited got BSM in 2022.
Edit: the SR5 & sport w/technology pkg got it too.

 

It will take some time to getting used to. I did find on the china store site that I can buy full mirror with power/Motion, heat, turn signal and puddle for like 85 bucks. Problem is that is says paintable and I have asked if the mirror cap can be removed and my quicksand installed in its place.

 

Wow, thats a great deal! Im pretty sure the top cap can be removed.

Below are the part# you need to swap the mirrors from a Rav4 to a 4Runner.

Dude your my guy! So is there any benefit to using Rav4 over 4r OEM mirrors? Same cap as well right?

 

The benefit is that you get the blind spot integrated into the mirrors, everything else is the same. I'm not sure if the cap is the same or interchangeable with the 4runner. I know that the mirrors are a direct swap for sure.

 

I missed Old Reds last harness offering so I purchased the KTJO and TRS mirrors. Install went smooth puddles and turns work great. 2 problems mirror controls are frogged so when I push up on control pad mirror turns to the right. I don't know if it is the mirrors or the harness. Other issue I have lost auto down on driver window.All others work fine. I have reached to KTJO no response yet. I have only done drivers side. Swapping the pins on the mirror motor should be pretty easy just not sure on the auto down function on window. Anyone else had this issue?
