The "tapping" noise is normal when the engine is cold and as you have observed it goes away once the engine is at operating temperature. This is quite common on a lot of engines from the past 20 years or so.

I don't even have to view the videos, the answer to any question as it pertains to 5th gen engine noises is always "normal".

Ah the diesel school bus syndrome. At least that's what mine sounds like in the morning.

The 1GR has never been a quiet or smooth engine.

I’m used to the diesel sound it typically makes at idle but this tapping/clacking noise was new to me and I noticed it around 10k miles. Maybe it was always there and I just had the radio and AC off one day and noticed it.

FWIW, my '19 was quiet in the first 10K miles too and now sounds like yours and that bugs me too.

I would add that in my case the noise is a bit different:

    1) New 2023 - made this noise from day one
    2) Seems to be "cold" related (cold engine vs warmed up engine)
    3) The clatter occurs ONLY on lift-throttle (decel) conditions at between 1000 RPM - 1500 RPM

I've not read about anyone else mentioning the lift-throttle condition before. Love being unique - NOT.:(

I can only here clacking at idle and it doesn't matter whether it's cold or at operating temp.
