So I'll kick it off here for everyone. The simple answer is no! Just today I wanted to buy a new oil filter housing and you would think I was asking them to do trigonometry. Then when they did figure it out $183 for an oil filter housing no thank you. Then I inquired about another part. Gave them the part number they came back multiple times can't find it in the system meanwhile I'm looking it up in my phone and showing it to them off another Toyota site. And it doesn't seem to matter what dealership you go to it's always freaking something...

My wife hates it when I have to do anything with a dealership, it means I am going to be pissed off complaining for a few days. They real should just call them ScrewUships.

So does anyone have a dealership that sells online that they really trust to order from?

I order from Toyota’s part site. They will ship to you or your local dealer. Hopefully you’re not trying to swap to the aluminum housing because I can save you the cost by just not swapping.

No it's actually the opposite couple years ago I put the aluminum housing on for just a couple oil changes and then decided that because of the skid plate I was just going to go back to the original housing which I did and everything was fine however this past weekend I was changing my filter with an oil change I was standing there and I bumbled the housing and it fell and actually damaged the tube up the center I ran out to the dealership and the local one didn't even have a housing to sell me so thankfully I still had my aluminum one and I put that on and did the change but I still need to purchase or would like to purchase the plastic housing to go back to the factory setup.

As far as the parts department is concerned, I have been happy with mine. Because of the amount of parts I have bought over the years, the parts guy is an acquaintance.
He is quick, efficient and gives me a 20% discount on MRP with 1 day shipping.
But this is only the one I frequent.
I went to another one, and he tried charging me more than the MRP and I walked away.
I never go to a dealership for regular service though. That's asking for trouble.

Do any of your local dealerships have an internet parts site? And by that I mean you can type in part numbers and pay for them, not the silly "give us a list and we'll get back to you" system that some of them have.
We have 2 reasonably close to us (the 3rd and best one stopped doing it). This way you just place your order for local pickup. You go in, get your junk with no shipping charge and done. But you do have to know your part numbers.

Serra Toyota of Decatur in Alabama. They have good prices and email a 20% (or 25%) promo code several times a year with free shipping.

I’ve had to exchange email with the parts guy a few times and he is always helpful.

    No.

A lot of people think dealers sell cars. They don't. Cars are free, with the purchase of ~$50,000+ of frustration.

Reading this is making me glad I never went in for my 2 years of included oil changes and did them myself.

    Is it possible? Yes

    Is it probable? No.

I hate the one close to me. They see a girl and think I don’t know anything.

My experience is this: if I focus on one service writer and one parts guy and get to know them, most of the headaches go away, and I get price breaks. As for vehicle sales, there's usually too much turnover there to stick with one guy.

Very happy with our dealer in Nelson, BC. It's an hour-ish drive each way from home, so we get any service done on Saturdays.

I was lucky my dealer was one of the best in the area. I too asked for new oil filter housing price and was shocked at the price, but understandable sine i really shouldn't even need to replace it.

It really is a hit or miss for me. Sometimes they do a good job for a fair price, and sometimes they just don't know anything and charge a very high price. I ended up doing most of the work myself on both my Taco and 4R. I had no previous experience but just learned and got some basic tools to the point I can do most of them.

I’ve ordered from them before and they are slow at fulfilling orders. I think I have them about 2 weeks before I emailed them. They responded within a couple of days only to tell me one item was back ordered and they were waiting on it before shipping the entire order.

Yes. There were a couple of these 25% off offers kicking around a while back. I ordered a bunch of stuff and ended up splitting it over two dealers. One was Serra and the other was Sand Mountain. One was quick and the other slow but I can't really recall now which was which. So, hang in there. They will arrive.

I’ve been very happy with my parts department, because we’re a 15 minute drive from one of Toyota largest warehouses in the country I can get almost anything for my 97 overnight. Even my hard brake lines.

And when it wasn’t the case they worked hard to get the last part available, a rear passenger door sill guard. More expensive than online, but when I need it now they’re indispensable.
