Hi I just bought 3rd gen 4Runner I wanted to rebuild/buy new motor for it but shop I went to said these go 500k miles mine is at 360k and not to do it. It feels sluggish and seems to not get best gas mileage but I am new to 4Runners. I am wanting to get new motor eventually when I need to and also get supercharger .
My question is “is it okay for me to get supercharger first put it on my motor current with 360k miles or is that going to put too much stress on it?” “Or should I wait till after getting a new motor to add a supercharger?”
Thanks ahead of time guys and gals!

I don't even see the point in putting a S/C on a 4R period let alone something 24 years old.

    Unless you talking something classic.

Just do your routine maintenance till it gives up. Even if engine is still running, there are seals and parts that would fail with that mileage. Getting a T4R is not a good option if gas consumption would be of concern. Just my 2C

Back in the day when these cars were new, the SC would regularly lunch Transmissions.

If you throw an SC on a high mileage 4Runner, you will get about one WOT pull and you better be coasting into a transmission repair shop when you finish.

If you put the blower on the new engine you're talking about... ya, make sure anything you can do to 'upgrade' that engine would be good. Cooling is the thing that should be a concern, blowers make more heat than naturally aspirated. Trans. upgrade would be on this list also. Good luck.
