Is it just me or has Toyota suddenly sold a gazillion new 4Runners?

I can't tell you how many new 4Rs I've seen on the roads around me in recent days. Temp plates everywhere -- on Lunar Rocks, on Army Greens, on Nightshades. It's like suddenly everyone is buying them!

Just a coincidence or have a ton of new people now decided to join our little club? :D

Might be the last reliable vehicle produced.

Lots and lots of 4Runners in my area. If they put out an APB on a white 4Runner, it would narrow it down to probably several hundred. ;)

Nautical Blue is my second favorite color. I just didn’t want a dark vehicle.

I swear every other car in the PNW is a 4Runner now. I didn't see near this many back when we had our '06 or even our '16.

4R has no decent competition especially since pathfinder, Cherokee, explorer, and blazer shit the bed and went unibody front wheel drive.

Not sure why car companies don't understand we want affordable midsize rear-wheel drive SUVs on truck frames that aren't circus contraptions like wranglers and broncos.

Except the 4R isn't really affordable. I see a bunch of new Pro's around here now and those are $54K or more, with SR5's starting near $40K. I agree that it a great vehicle though, I actually wish they offered a version with less tech.

Since deciding to get one (deposited 3 weeks ago and no firm date), I look for them all the time. I’ve literally only seen 4 in that time, 3 of them being the Limited. I didn’t realize how rare they were here (suburb west of Toronto). As far as what people want, the numbers don’t lie … people want crossovers. They basically want a raised station wagon, that doesn’t look like a station wagon, that they’ll never take off road and gets good gas mpg.

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
To be fair to the Explorer, it is actually still rear wheel drive based, but it's more of a minivan than an SUV these days. Even when it first went unibody, it wasn't bad, except for the whole exploding thing.

I knew I should have bought a white one, but there wasn’t one available at the time. When it’s clean the NB is an amazing color, but I find it’s harder to deal with than black.

Yes sir me and you both. Basically what I want is this with solid axles, lockers all the way around and manual gearbox and manual 4x4 shifter. Manual locking hubs would be fine with me

Let's be realistic now. This is not the 70's and 80's. In todays day and age for where we are the prices you listed is considered affordable. You are not going to get a No A/C, manual window, ABS optional and AM only version of a 4Runner. It is what it is. When many vehicles which I consider much less in reliability and function are the same cost or higher then yes it is affordable.

I paid way more for my SR5P than I should, but its what the market was a few months ago. Its still worth almost what I paid for it, but I don't think I will let this one go. I have had 14 vehicles since 2007 so keeping a vehicle is never something I have ever done, but with what's going on in the world I have no desire for anything more than my SR5. This might be the last low tech reliable body on frame vehicle built.

This is the first vehicle I have ever purchased with the plan to hold on to it forever. Until then I would trade out every 4 years max. I paid 40,5 in 2016 for my Trail Premium w/KDSS and rear cargo. Prices have surely gone up but I would get another 5gen if I had to (if I no longer had mine). I put 7k a year on mine so the plan is to stay with it for a good 30 years plus.

I didn’t even look at that, but darned if you aren’t right. I did look at a few other sources and the US numbers seemed to be accurate. But with 36 million people, quite a bit less than the US, I am sure the numbers align well enough.

I see a LOT of SR5's and next up would be the Limiteds. I see quite a few less PRO's and TRD OR's. I do not see many of the TE's or TEP's and rarely do I see a 10-13 TE or TEP. There is a shoreline blue TEP that I see running around. I want to steal that thing. I am totally a Trail guy over anything that has a TRD something or another slapped on it.
