Thinking I’ve narrowed down my suspension/shock upgrade to the Ironman FCP.

just wondering if my 4Runner I get I should do KDSS or not?

Not sure if there would be any significant benefits of having upgraded shocks plus KDSS?

KDSS acts as a partial sway bar disconnect at low speed. It can be beneficial over the stock sway bars on technical trails. The on-road stability is a secondary benefit. Shocks have no affect on its function.

It gets complicated when you switch to an extended or long travel suspension. Even though it can still allow better side to side articulation, it eventually limits overall droop.

I recommend it for weekend warriors who don't plan major suspension modification, like long travel or a sway bar delete. If you plan on going really crazy with your build, I'd skip it.

There's a great video on YouTube the does a great job explaining the pros and cons.

If you get it, remember to regularly clean inside of the accumulator skid, as the accumulator can get corroded and expensive to replace.

Pretty much this, that video is a great starting point in trying to understand the KDSS system. I had the KDSS system on my 2016 4Runner and had 0 complaints about it. The on-road manners were great on the truck because of it. If I could've kept the system active with my current set up I would've, but it all depends on where you plan to take the build. If you don't plan on doing any long travel modifications I would definitely suggest getting a KDSS if you can

my friend has 4Runner with KDSS and Ironman Foam Cell Pro shocks and I sat in passenger seat while he drove it around on road. Felt pretty solid, no bouncy feel or rolling or noise dive etc. small road imperfections were soaked up crisply without disturbing interior. Unfortunately he just had his rig waxed so he didn’t want to take it down a dirt road

KDSS doesn't affect nosedive. Upgraded shocks will, though.

Oh, I missed that. Most decent aftermarket shocks will take care of the nosedive.

    Edit: ...And improve overall stability.
