I have a 1996 4 runner and about 8 months ago I replaced the ignition tumbler because I was having trouble turning the key to start the car. Now I'm having trouble with the key getting stuck and not being able to remove it after I shut the car off. This is an intermittent problem. Do I need to replace tumbler again or can this be caused by something else? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Is it a new tumbler + new key, or new tumbler + old key?

Mine did same thing I sprayed a can of WD-40 in the key hole didn’t seem to affect it. Had a new key cut by the dealership and working perfect still.

You may want to try some graphite to see if that would help.

It was a new tumbler and key. I'll try the graphite, thanks.

Bummer, I don't have any good suggestions for that scenario. I hope the graphite helps. I'd inform whoever did them of the situation and perhaps get the tumbler and key remade.

Did you buy a Toyota OEM ignition switch? If not, that's probably the problem. Non OEM parts are just bad quality.
