Hello, as my name suggests, I use to love Jeeps. Last year I bought a 2022 Jeep 4XE brand new off the lot. The Jeep then shut down on me and left me stranded 3 hours away from my home in below freezing weather. After battling Chrysler for 4 months, they've finally bought back that lemon, which they never were able to fix (Jeep mechanic fried the $16,000 4XE Hybrid motor and Jeep has no idea when they'll be able to get more in). That thing is still broken and sitting at the same dealership it was towed to 4 months prior. Crazy, crazy, horrible story.

Nevertheless, 'I've seen the light..I'm buying a 4Runner. Any friendly posters seen the average MPG for the 2023 TDR Pro?

Also, Any recommendations on an aftermarket radio?

Go easy on me. I did come from a Jeep.

I have a 2021 TRD Pro (stock) and my avg MPG's is a little over 18 MPG as a daily driver. The MPG's for all of the stock 4R's should be the same. Supposed to get 17 - 19 as per the sticker.

    Welcome to the forum!

Wow, that sounds like a real headache you went through with the Jeep!

Average fuel economy on a 2023 pro should be the same as it has been for the last 10 model years or so. It will depend heavily on how fast you cruise, and how much city VS highway driving.

Our one Jeep (Gyp?) did that on the bridge heading North from Portland, OR. Somehow got it started and drove all the way home in eastern WA without stopping. That night the alarm triggered for no reason (Our neighbor was just coming home and said no one was near it!). It started the next morning, and we took it straight to the dealer to trade in a Pathfinder. ANY time we have deviated from Toyotas, we have been sorry! Now, we have a '19 SR5 Premium and a '13 RAV4, both with low mileage and we can't be happier! Both handle the mud and snow of the PNW and are comfy for long drives.

Welcome from the Dark Side to the Force!

My girlfriend drives a TRD Pro and it is completely stock and she says her average is 20mpg.

    I drive a lifted SR5 on 33's with a roof rack and average 16mpg.

Oh, God. Chrysler. I traded in my 2004 4Runner because I just had to have a 2009 Dodge Challenger (My parents had a Barracuda when I was growing up, so it was nostalgic for me).I almost ended up in the nuthouse with that POS. It was an R/T B-5 Blue with Heritage wheels and the black stripe down the sides. It was a beautiful car. I spent five years scheduling it in for service monthly, I kid you not.

One night, in tears, I traded it in for a 2008 used 4Runner and have never looked back. Never again will I buy a Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep.

Congratulations! You won’t regret your decision.

I'll never go back to Chrysler. Convincing them to purchase back a vehicle I drove for 3 months was excruciating. Drove for 3 months, was broken down for 4 months. Their business model has completely changed since Stellantis took over. Churn and Burn customers seems to be the motto now.

Talked to about 6 dealerships today. All had used 4runners or none all together. Im curious how dealerships are keeping salesmen when they don't have anything in stock to sell.

Saw this earlier today for a new head unit recommendation: I updated my head unit to an alpine ilx-507 and like it a lot but I have a 2016 not a 2023.

    Welcome! F-Jeep. Garbage car.

Same engine in all 5th gen regardless of trim. 17 is the best avg I’ve had in mine. 6th gen may be turbo charged for better mileage… wonder how that will affect reliability/longevity of the engine.

I just traded my 21 Wrangler 4xe for a 23 TRD ORP 3 weeks ago! I forgot how good it feels not to worry about a vehicle breaking down! My 4xe spent a total of 2 months in the shop out of the 20 months I owned it. In fact I traded it with the CEL on due to a hybrid battery heater issue that was ongoing. Feels good to be back in a 4runner...although Jeeps are fun and there will always be a piece of me that misses driving one. I've had 4 over the years. I think I'm done though.

Traded our 2022 Rubicon in January for our 4Runner. Owned 15 Jeeps, never again. Yes, I’m a little slow, lol.

One of these 4XE's is going to get someone killed. @cbeas I love em, but I agree. I'm done with buying a vehicle that isn't reliable. @redneck pilot

New Jeeps are Fiats and Alfa Romeo. The electronics suck. The Pentastar V6, the 4WD system and the 8 sp tranny are good. But its the electronics that will strand you in the middle of nowhere. My heart would be pounding when taking a Jeep away from civilization. With a 4Runner, bring it on, let's go Death Valley and camp alone lol

If only Toyota chopped of some of 4Runner's body, threw another solid axle in there and nobody would need a Jeep. Pretty doable but Toyota doesn't seem interested.
