I was trying to save my brakes lol, and ended up doing some stupid aggressive cornering, and it didn't disappoint. This truck is a magnet. Folks, don't miss on this $1,700 option ;)

I saw on your other thread that you are getting it undercoated. Is it like fluid film or woolwax? I ask because you might want to put a protective coating on and around the kdss unit, especially on the hydraulic fittings. It’s all behind a little skidplate that can be removed.

And it’s a very good idea to take that skid plate off once year or so to hose out any accumulated dirt, salt, etc. There have been some real heartbreaker posts of owners discovering that KDSS unit caked in salty barnacles and completely rusted through. Kdss is a neat system worth protecting, especially since it’s super expensive to replace. It probably wouldn’t rust out in 10 or 12 years in the worst conditions, but it would suck to have that expensive repair at year 13. It could total an otherwise solid vehicle.

Also, might be a good idea to occasionally inspect the boots on the hydraulic rams to make sure it doesnt get tears or rubber rot.

They used this. The problem is these guys do just coating, and are very strict about it. So for the KDSS unit I would have to do it myself and use a small container of this product which is available. Thanks for the heads up

My local self-serve garage has a nice lift. They charge $20 for a job that is 30 minutes or less. After that they charge $50 an hour. I think I can knock out this kdss coating in 30 minutes.
I'll do tranny, transfer c, and diff fluid in this garage.

interesting product..a blend of resins? Does it dry like paint, or stay wet like fluid film/wool wax?

As far as coating the kdss fittings with woolwax, you could probably do it anywhere with enough space to throw down some cardboard and lay down along the drivers side. It’s very accessible. Although nothing wrong with getting it on the lift.

Kind of sucks, but we don’t have any self-serve garages around me. Probably for the best, as I tend to work slow and can imagine bankrupting myself with an hourly rate lol

Just got the 220 outlet added in the garage. Currently waiting on several concrete guys to return a call for an estimate on reinforcing the garage floor for a lift.

I got bad back, last time I tried to be smart and I ended up in bed for a couple weeks lol. I'll drive to this garage for oil change too. I think I'll knock it out in 30 minutes and $20. Get good with multitasking

@Fateh Hey OP, man KDSS is pretty rad, in my opinion. I also invested in the Dr. KDSS inline OEM harness and dash kill switch to disengage when I want to, not just under 12mph automatically.

The boys are a priceless source of help already for you.

I just did this protective coating, again. See below my friend, virtually all the locations you're looking for are photographed. I recommend Blaster Surface Shield

Thanks! I've heard great things about Surface Shield, specially that it has petroleum jelly for better longevity.

Hey @Fateh thought I'd post KDSS rust proofing layman's terms we chatted about here, maybe helps more people while also giving members a chance to blast me for incorrectness lol

I'm a self taught newby, learning to wrench on my own, but it's gotta be my number one hobby at 34 years old.

From what I gather KDSS main accumulator/pump unit is located drivers side between the wheels on the frame. Two OEM skid plates bolted overtop; "front" skid mounted on the underside of frame covering hydraulic hose lines, "rear" skid mounted on the outside face covering accumulator and setting valves.

-Drivers side outside facing frame accumulator
Rust proof the whole damn thing (anything metal and the bolts), except hydraulic lines themselves.
-I believe Drivers side has inner facing frame lines with metal fittings, trying to remember from my photos
    Rust proof these fittings.
-Drivers side sway bar has stabilizer control cylinder/hydraulic ram w/ rubber bellow
Rust proof any metal fittings, couplers, bolts.
-Passenger side sway bar just a fixed link/rod, no bellow
I don't think I rust proofed anything here.
-Rear end axel has a stabilizer bar, drivers side has the stabilizer control cylinder w/ bellow
Rust proof the metal hose fittings and bolts.

It is my first Toyota and I am blown away. The build quality of this truck is unreal. This thing has been built to last. And I will make sure it does last.

I got a quote of $1,250 for 4 KO2s, labor and taxes included. And $750 for the TRD Pro grill, parts, labor and taxes included. These two are my first and last mods.

Lol. No, no more mods. Suspension mods will kill my expensive and comfortable truck. I have owned many crappy Jeeps, don't want another Jeep lol
