So finally I got stuck today, I found a trail that is pretty decent. Who to blame for this failure?
    1) Stock tires?
    2) Half-hearted attempt
    3) Capability of the 4Runner

if you plan on wheeling like this, it may be in your interest to look into armor, suspension and wheel/tire.

However to your question I think it’s a mixture of 1&3. The surface looks pretty slick and I think the stock tires are pretty bad imo.

Yeah I think my tires are pretty bad, but despite those tires it handled these places like a boss.

I am buying gas, lady needs a jumper cable for her BMW. I told her sorry I don't have one, but I have a piece of advice for you. Once you are out of this trouble, get rid of that BMW and get a Toyota :D

Wow, you’re just jumping right in! I would say you are on the deep side of the pool now. Time to get tires armor, maybe a lift.

There is nothing wrong with backing out of an obstacle that is too much. No sense in beating up your truck unnecessarily.

i just saw this vid… my first thought is “that’s @The last breed in 6 months :D:laugh:

Yeah I pushed my rig to the limit today. I am done with this kind of wheeling for a while. I don't think and I hope and pray I didn't damage anything, except body scratches. This is my daily driver too lol. Lesson learnt.

Also I will be honest with one more thing that happened today. I went into woods in narrow places. And in the middle of nowhere I got stuck in deep mud. Boy I panicked, it was not a fun feeling. Rescue wouldn't be easy and fast from that kind of place. I didn't even know who to call. Finally after 15 minutes of struggle I got out. Backing up multiple times and then flooring the gas pedal did the trick, with all tools engaged. Also, I placed some paper towels under my tires, lots of it. Scary experience today, shouldn't have entered the muddy woods. I was freaking out so much I didn't take pictures :D
My biggest mistake was entering that mud hole :D

And get yourself some traction boards!!!! And some basic recovery equipment should a kind soul offer to help you out of a bind.

If it makes you feel any better…this was me a few months after buying my 4runner :

This little escapade cost me a near heart attack digging out and 150bucks to repair the front bumper cover, but it did teach me to be more careful…and to appreciate friends that are with you to help you dig out!

Those dent repair places can work some magic!

I should clarify, my escapade required digging to get some 2x8 boards (lumber) underneath the tires…just so my buddy could winch me out. I know what it’s like to fight that feeling of desperation you described! But you got out! And chances are you wont get stuck like that again!

My tires were spinning like crazy, no traction in deep mud. I kinda sank deep after trying too hard. Horrible and scary feeling was that. Glad I made it out. Mud is dangerous.
