    Hi there peeps.
i've been driving a toyota camry for 25 years. it has been an extremely reliable car. hardly any problems. It was a good car when i was living in LA, but Vegas is a different story. I want to be able to access off-road locations as well as travel. Ideally I'd like to be able to tow a 5th wheel, but it looks like the 4.0L only has a capacity of 5K lbs. the 8 cylinder says it can tow 7500 lbs, but i don't know anything about this engine.......it's flaws, it's longevity, etc. So I'm here to ask questions so i can buy a used gen3 r gen4 that will suit my needs.
    Thanks!

    John

Welcome from Wisconsin! Don't you think a Tundra would be better for towing a 5th wheel? And when you unhook that 5th wheel, go adventure some.

Welcome! And yes, I agree with the above, if you want to tow a fifth wheel you definitely need a pickup truck, so if you want a Toyota there's always the Tundra.

If you decide you need an SUV, a Sequoia with the 5.7 might be a better choice than a 4Runner, it'll be a more stable towing platform and have a higher-capacity. I don't know off the top of my head what the capacity is, but the 5.7 makes over a hundred horsepower and more torque than the 4.7 in the 4th gen 4Runner. Towing with a 5th gen, some people do it but I wouldn't buy one strictly as a tow vehicle. To me, the 4.0 has enough trouble moving the 4Runner itself around, never mind while dragging 5K lbs behind it.
