Put a good aftermarket bumper on it made of steel or aluminum that has black powder coat.

Great choice. Greenlane is a great company. Aluminum is the way to go.

i like the look of it and the fact they make a loop the doesn't block the sensor, i don't like the fact you have to cut the stock bumper. is this common for aftermarket bumpers?

Yes if you want a bumper that accepts and hides a winch. If you dont want a winch then id say just vinyl wrap the stock one.

Yes, taking a dremel or similar tool to your new 4 Runner is pause for concern, especially if you have limited mechanical acumen. If that’s the case find someone to do it for you, for peace of mind. Having said that, though, it’s totally doable. Take your time, buy a new dremel tool with a thin, ultra fine diamond blade. Watch some videos, like the Victory 4x4 installation video of the Blitz bumper. You can do it! Btw, you don’t actually cut the bumper. You remove the aluminum crash bar, and replace it with the bumper. The hunk of plastic you cut, is just a big, thin, junky cover. Even in a worst case scenario you could buy another one for ~500 bucks or less. But think positive, it’s easy. You’ll love your new bumper. I posted the photo of my installation below. Its a Victory 4x4 aluminum Blitz. It has a Warn Evo Vr 10s winch installed with it, which is why I installed it. I really wanted to retain a simple stock appearance. Also, while some one man welding shops have long wait times, companies like Greenlane and Victory are small professional manufacturing operations, and they can deliver your order in a reasonable time. The total weight of this installation is 102 lbs. You don't have to modify your front suspension and most of the extra weight in my case is the winch. And, it works great!

Pinstripes, lots of em. Plus a couple dents.
I'm expecting my GreenLane Hatch Ladder to arrive today.

Here's the video I used to install my Warn Bumper which is pretty much the same as the GreenLane bumper:

Tip: Buy a floor jack, if you don't have one already, and use it plus a board to hold the new bumper up to the frame while you get the 1st couple bolts on.
