hi guys, new to the forum, just sold my turd gen taco, I know everyone loves to bash it but it was a decent truck and never did me dirty.

Anyway looking to buy a 2021, the Costco pricing isn't available yet but the dealer I went to in socal gave me a Costco price of 41k for an offroad premium (2020 model) which i wasn't interested in.

They did have a 2021 offroad en route and they didn't have the Costco pricing available yet, he said maybe early November. He did offer to sell it for 42k which I respectfully balked.

So any idea on the 2021s? (Looking for 4wd off road) Thanks!

He also mentioned they don't do the Costco pricing on the venture and im assuming the pro as well

Being a brand new model year, probably msrp or very close to it. They can’t keep them on the lots.

I've already seen it with the invoice prices. My question is how close to invoice (or below) should I expect. I know with covid obviously there's a demand issue.

I'm thinking of buying the 2020 offroad premium, the msrp is 46k and like I said the price i got was 41k pre ttl (comes with kdss, moon roof, and cargo trays with all weather mats etc)

    $42k for a 2021 ORP isn't entirely bad.

Not sure how much discount you are expecting.

The 42k was for just the regular off road (not premium) and no kdss

Not sure about CA but northeast there is a demand problem... theyre flying off lots. NY dealers are not budging on prices. If you're wanting one for invoice (or below) your kidding yourself. Its funny covid has gotten Americans outside again. Try to go buy fishing gear at walmart, buy a dirtbike/4wheeler/side-by-side, or try to buy off road focused vehicles right now. Damn near impossible these days... theyre available but don't expect ANY deals.

Well assumed we were talking the same options.

But I've heard Off Roads are hard to come by for 2020s not sure how much 2021s will be laying around.

Update so I went into the toyota of riverside to purchase it today and verified the appointment in the morning, as soon as I got in the sales rep played dumb and said they sold it last night and of course he tried to get me into another 4runner for a higher price. So scratch Toyota of Riverside off the list of reputable dealers, classic bait and switch

Have you considered buying out of state?

I used to live in SoCal and ended up buying in Arizona because it saved me quite a bit.

You'll have to jump through some hoops to register it in CA, but all said and done, I saved a few thousand.

This, and Toyota appears to only offer certain trim levels in certain areas, so when I went looking for a new 4Runner last November, I had to go out of state to find a good selection of the trim level I wanted.

In the past, I've purchased RT airfare to a distant location after ironing out the details of a purchase and thrown away the return ticket to drive the new ride home - I like adventure though.

I'm willing to be patient, luckily I have a tundra 4wd that's paid off so it's definitely more of a want then a need type of thing. The whole purpose of why the Costco program appealed to me is im currently working over 70 hour weeks so the convenience and price of them is what was highly appealing.

Needless to say I was highly annoyed albeit pissed off when the scummy sales rep was trying to put me in a less optioned out 4runner for a lot more. The 1st guy from the 1st day I went in was pretty helpful but he wasn't there when I went into test drive and purchase.

But yeah I'm sure in a few months to a year the factory in Japan will start the pump these bad boys out again and I'll probably hit up a high volume dealer like longo or toyota of orange

Just my .02c on people that think its a "bait snd switch".

If you dont put a deposit down you are a solid "doubtful " in the dealers eyes. Even with a deposit you're a "maybe". If someone walks in with cash or is approved on the spot financing the vehicle will be sold. Theyre running a business not a charity. A bait and switch would be saying thry have a TRD pro on the lot, you show up and its a TRD off road.

I've had this happen to me back in 2015 when I had an appointment to buy a M3. I showed up right on time and the vehicle was gone, sold to cash buyer right before i arrived and I wasn't even mad.

    Brand New
Every Toyota dealer in So Ca was padding the prices by $5K and had hard ball attitudes
So, I started looking at California Craigslist adds outside of San Diego and Los Angeles ......

San Francisco CL had the Santa Rosa Valley Freeman Toyota Online sales Mgr, John Coffaney add. And that had me thinking this was going to be my little 2 day adventure
    Anyways, it was fun
Since; I’ve done the Bilstein 5100 leveling
Tint, Sprint Booster Falken WildPeak AT/3’s etc.....
Feels great to be back n2 a 4R again

btw, they “almost” sold it out from under me as I was driving to the airport.....I told them I was coming!!
After their test drive he called me and said.....it’s yours

It is a bait and switch because they told me they had it in the morning when the confirmed tbe appointment when they sold it the night before. So they lied on purpose to get me in to make a sale

I don't care they sold it I was upset they wasted my time

So toyota longo toyota has 2 silver 2020 offroad premiums for msrp of 46k, 43k with costco pricing before ttl, they won't budget or negotiate 1 penny on their 2021s, i was quoted 47,500 otd for a 2021 off road and 46k otd for a 2020 offroad premium

Of course they won't negotiate on the 2021s until the 2020s are off the lot.

$43k for a ORP isn't entirely terrible. Assuming with KDSS.

I hate that ! When I took mine for the test drive and returned, we then parked out front and went inside to do paperwork, as we were working deal, another salesman was showing it to a buyer :(

    Wow! That's ruthless.

I bet some dealerships do that on purpose.......to get you to buy it quicker at a higher price.
