How much did you pay for a timing cover re-seal?

    When I bought my 2010 a couple months ago, the dealer was very transparent about the timing cover "weeping" tiny amounts of oil, but not enough to drip. During my 2 hours at the dealer looking at it, it didn't seem to drip at all. The little amount of oil runoff on the underside seemed consistent with what they described, and since this vehicle isn't my daily and will be reserved for weekend fun only, I felt perfectly fine about running it, since I understand weepy timing covers are pretty common on these engines. Well now it seems the leak is getting worse. Quite a few heavy spots underneath it after it's been parked for a little bit. I check the oil before every drive, and indeed, it's leaked out probably 2 quarts in the past 2 months. Has anyone paid for a new timing cover re-seal within the past year or two, with labor charges being as expensive as they are? Bonus points if you're in Colorado and can name any places. I may just keep running it until I'm adding too much oil for it to be practical, but I also don't want to cause even worse problems down the road. Otherwise, it's absolutely great and I love it. I put a lot of money into new front end suspension and it's in great shape. But I'm curious to know what others are actually paying for something like this. I know it isn't cheap. The attached photo shows the drip after being parked for only about 30 minutes, it seemed particularly bad this day. Thanks for any info!

    It’ll probably be most straightforward to get quotes from shops here and there near you. Not sure there’ll be enough to ballpark it for you.

    Costco has a 15% discount auto service/parts program which I’ve taken advantage of for AWD repair of my previous vehicle and getting a key cut for my current one but participating locations vary, is likely a dealer and it’s not easy to get a comprehensive list since the website wants you to plug in a Zip code first and come back with a couple options only. Might be worth looking at if you or someone has a membership.

    That’s an OG Trail! Sweet! Once you start modding and working on a vehicle, you’ve already decided it’s it’s worth putting the time
    and money it needs to keep it going good. If it’s not a daily, I’d try to time the repair of this leak with any other work it might need on that area (cooling fan clutch, idler puller bearings, water pump, etc). I’d also want to put eyes on the engine main bearing seal to see if that’s any part of this leak (check the weep hole cover between the transmission and engine).

    Have you personally confirmed the leak is from the timing cover? 1 quart a month is a tremendous leak to come from a timing cover.
