I have searched and searched for a post about just this that I once saw... And can't find it.

I'd like to delete the DRL's and run a separate circuit for additional high beams. Some bright LED's. Anyone done this or know of a simple way? What bulbs?

    Thanks,
    Scott

    Oooh look, another mod.....
There is no way to do it with the OEM lights. The High beam and Low beam are the same component.

On mine, the low and high beam live in one position in the outermost part of the housing. It looks like they utilized what was once a high beam bulb location and made it a low power DRL. I may be missing your point, but I thought I could repurpose that bulb location.

I thought I saw a harness from someone. Let me search.

Edit: It’s an option with the harness I know of if you are converting from halogen.

Are you thinking of adding something behind the grill like I did? I disabled the DRL's through the infotainment system menu and run the Diode Dynamics SS5 Pro spot beams via a relay off of the high beam circuit.

The results are more than adequate:

The wiring is pretty simple actually. I don't have a schematic since it was so simple. (I've done this many times before.) Basically, I built my own harness which you can sort of see in the pic below going across the horizontal cross bar. The negatives got to a body ground. The positives go to a relay located on the inside of the driver side of the core support. The backlight wires go to the parking light circuit and the relay trigger wire goes to the high beams. Hope that helps

Somewhere I saw a post where they used the drl housing for extra brights . I have a 2023 with led headlights.
