Hi all - simple, hopefully straightforward question: is it safe to attach MaxTrax to roof cross-bars with bungees? Or is there a safer way? Thanks much.

That’s a lot of money to trust to bungees if you ask me. If you are strapping things down, Id only use cam locking straps or something that you can cinch down securely. I would avoid bungees for anything on a roof rack frankly.

I only have cross bars, and needed to get a little creative to strap my boards down to a point I thought was secure enough. I fitted a couple of aluminum square tubes front to back to the crossbars. The boards got put between them, and I used some thick velcro staps to tie them down at the hand holds. Eventually Ill get some cam lock straps. Probably overkill, but so far the’ve survived a few hundred miles of interstate speeds.

There are probably multiple ways to do this right (same goes for doing it wrong lol). It might just take a cup of coffee or two to figure out your best solution.
