So someone went to replace my battery and ended up putting the terminals on backwards....
And let it sit for hours before noticing and disconnecting. Now a few of the interior lights will work but it wont turn over.

Im going through it trying to check all my bases. I already replaced all of the fuses that were blown, thinking about checking the starter relay.

Any ideas would be really helpful thanks!

Ouch, **it happens, eh! My guess would be something major like an ECU. That’s a problem definitely to get some error codes on.

Probably blew the main fuse. It’s there to protect from exactly what has happened. I did the same on my 88, tired coming off a night shift. $6 bucks at autozone for the fuse and 20min later all was back to normal.

The main fuse is a different looking one. It’s square shaped and it’s a fusible link style.

If there are any Danes on here, they’ll recognize such things as the work of nissen, grumpy because someone must have awakened him for Christmas too early.

The someone wasnt me actually my boyfriend. We bought a new battery for our long traveled offroading 4runner but there was 2 mix ups 1st of all the terminals were on the oposite side of the battery. So for the terminals to reach the battery had to be put in backwards which we didnt notice. 2 This was also done at night in really poor lighting and the positive and negative symbols are super hard to see in day light let alone in the dark. So we were moving to fast not double checking, then the 4runner wouldnt start. And then we thought of maybe jumping it, and the jumper cable actually started welding onto the battery terminals. It wad eventful to say the least. But now here i am cleaning up the mess.

Sounds like it's time to dump him before he costs you more money. :spending:

    Kidding, of course.

Sorry you have to go through this. Complete pain in the ass and it sucks. :(

Hey- definitely did this on my first car. Consequences vary but you're probably looking at a new ECU. Replacement isn't too hard!

I can see that would be easy to happen. Hey, never be afraid to make mistakes. Just try to make them once.

If you have a fusible link, I would check that.
