Just figuring out all things T4R. It’s been my dream car, finally picked one up a month ago. Tested out the 4wd in the snow a couple days ago with our early season big storm here. I’ve definitely got some simple mod plans in her future. 1st was installing sliders yesterday, getting rid of the running boards!
Photo of my man helping me with the install.

    Congrats, and welcome!

So how did she do in the snow, did you have a ton of fun?? :D

I'm in Rhode Island, we barely got any snow last winter, I was so disappointed. I'm hoping we get hit hard this year though, I love driving in the snow.

Super fun in the snow! But I’m definitely ordering some Blizzaks for winter up here.
I’ll definitely check out the local Sac page. Thanks for that!

    Welcome indeed!

My parents were part owners of a couple cabins up in your area. Back when I was a little younger. Just a little while back. The '60's, you know, a LITTLE while back.
The road crews would plow the freeway up to the summit, and our cabins, 2 of them, a big one and a little one, were just down the freeway embankment, where the ground leveled out. I always was amazed at the huge wall of snow we'd stop at. Dad owned a Skidoo, and we'd (my little sister and I) get a couple of toboggans tied to the back of it, and my father'd go screaming down the unplowed portion of the freeway. Miles of flat, even, mostly straight, snow. We had a blast. Never broke any bones doing that, but I don't have any idea how :D

I'm sure the cabins are long gone by now, I just thought it is a small world, you know?

Anywho, welcome aboard! Truckee is a beautiful area.
    Pat☺

    Hi Pat!
That’s an awesome story!! Who knows, those cabins might be there still. The summit can get so much snow during some winters. I know a guy who has a snowplow on his Ford so he can get to his house up there. We are definitely crossing our fingers for a huge winter!

Thanks! We got this 4Runner so wheeling/ camping road trips are faster and more comfortable. We have a FJ62 also. I definitely hope to get to AZ next year. Sedona is on my list!

Well, I went through there on my way back from the Reno Nat'l Air Races 30th Anniversary, and I didn't see them, but they may well be. I was a little busy driving, you know? I chose that route just so I could see if they were there. Amazing to me the size of the freeway through there, it really is.

But hey, if you are right at the summit on the freeway, and see two cabins, a small, log cabin, and a two story regular built one a couple hundred feet apart, grab a picture for me. I can still see them in my mind. They were/are down the hill the freeway runs on, so there's only one side that needs to be scanned. I'll have to check Google Earth, or similar, too.

We used to stop at the gas station there in Truckee to fuel up, and my father would carefully lean the carb on the Ford Galaxy 500 Station wagon we were in. 2 1/4 turns exactly. Make sure it drove it's best there at altitude :) Used to grumble when gas got up as high as 25 cents a gallon :spending:

    Sorry, memories...
    Pat☺
