So I'm waiting to put on my grill that I got from car trim home and I've seen in some YouTube videos where guys are saying about painting them before they put them on so that they don't fade. Does anybody have an experience with the one from car trim home it actually seems to be pretty reasonably decent quality I'm wondering if painting it is overkill or if they will fade.

I think it depends on the quality. If you are on the fence, I would paint just for the peace of mind.

Yeah it's kind of where I'm at I will say though I've been very pleasantly surprised by everything I've gotten from them so far including this grill
